What students are saying about our classes
Kumihimo Bracelet class by June Knowles: "What did you like most? Learning something new that was individually sized and was an unbelievable experience for my niece who was inspired to join another art class. This class gave her confidence, thus making me overjoyed. Loved the experience and June was so very patient. June provided written directions and enough materials to make another bracelet at home. How great is that?"

June Knowles is very talented at both making lampwork beads and Kumihimo (a braiding technique). See some of her work HERE
June is a Florida native and has been making jewelry for more than 30 years. Her most recent passion is making her own glass beads using glass rods and a torch. This process is known as lampwork. Kumihimo has become her favorite technique to highlight her handmade lampwork beads. She is looking forward to sharing the process with you and she is sure it will become one of your favorites as well.
Kumihimo is a braiding technique that is used in the making of long decorative strands. These cords are used in a variety of decorative ways. Some people wear them as bracelets or necklaces. Others use them as functional laces or simply let them swing free.
June also teaches a class on "Hand Dyed Silk Scarves" in which participants will learn basic silk dyeing techniques with beginner-friendly silk dyes. You can take home three 11" X 72" scarves that you dyed yourself.

Elisabeth Ferber's artwork can best be described as "classical representational". She does not seek to change what is, but to paint and present it as she perceives the scene to be. She strives to create a painting that shows the beauty and character of a landscape and the life which lives there. Art is a treasured gift threefold; a privilege to create it, share it and teach it. See some of her artwork that is available at Artisans HERE.
Elisabeth Ferber is a full time artist who started painting in 1998. She was born in Belleville, Illinois but spent most of her adult life in Central Florida. Born of artistic parents and having spent much of her childhood in Europe, she was exposed to a very classical art background which in turn influenced her current style. Her landscapes are painted mostly in "plein air" on location and along with photos, used to create larger paintings. Elisabeth participates in multiple Plein air events across Florida, the US and outside of the country with other artists, most recently in New Zealand, Italy, Switzerland and Cuba. She also strives to paint in all the U.S. National Parks.
After graduating from Liliedahl School of classical art instructor/teaching program in January 2009, she enjoys teaching beginner/intermediate art classes at Wekiva Island in Apopka, Polasek Museum, Winter Park and her studio in Mt. Dora, Florida. Elisabeth also does demos, commissions, team building classes and murals.
Elisabeth was the cover artist for Winter Park Magazine, listed in the Best of America oil artist book, paintings included in the book "Along the Wekiva" by Jim Robinson, and marketing cover artist in multiple paintouts including Wekiva Paintout, Canaveral and New Smyrna Beach.
Elisabeth will be teaching "Learn to Paint a White Egret in Oil Paint".

Lynn Nickels has been an artist, in one way or another, all of her life. As a young girl, she took private art lessons in acrylic painting, then moved on to study graphic design, writing and photography in college. While in college, she was fascinated by the interesting and beautiful mixed-media artwork displayed by other artists. Since retiring from Ohio to Florida, Lynn has now had the time to explore her interest and love of mixed-media art, as well as, her longtime love of paper art. She has taught journal and mixed-media classes at Gilded Matilda's. She lives with her long-time boyfriend and her toy golden doodle, Coco Bear, in The Villages and has 10 grandchildren.
