BIOGRAPHY
 During my long career as an educator, I encouraged, instructed and made sure there was scheduled time to value art and to be creative at the middle and elementary levels.  Art can be integrated into all subject areas and the output of students is truly amazing.  Their energy influenced me to always be creative as much as possible, no matter what.

 Always living in the central Florida area makes me a true native.  Because my home is now in a rural area, Polk City, I have become a nature enthusiast.  Being retired, I now have the time to explore wild flowers, wild life, and grow a vegetable garden which also gets wild.  Ron, my husband, and a nearby married daughter helps me keep it tamed. Recently, I have been eco printing which uses these actual botanicals growing around me within the printing process.  

Eco printing is related more to newspaper printing than to photo copying.  During the 1500’s; because of the lack of septic systems, the population valued perfumes to squelch the foul odors.  In order to catalog the plants and herbs used to make perfume, eco printing was invented.  Foliage is sprayed with an iron water solution and watercolor paper is sprayed with an acid, such as vinegar or alum. After heat and pressure is applied to the arrangement, the tannins from blooms and foliage stain the paper.  I enhance the eco print, using multi-media and watercolor techniques.

I look forward to serving the community. Interacting with those that promote art is encouragement and motivation.   Being an active member of a cooperation that supports the Arts is rewarding.
